Hello there, below are notable AVL events coming in September. Like many/most of us, the recent lunar loops have been a lot for me, thus the pause in posts. I intend to be back to writing soon. In the meantime, I’m glad to be able to share this upcoming good stuff…
PechaKucha AVL Vol. 42

My beloved compa Marisol Jiménez will be one of the presenters! “Marisol is the co-founder and principal of Spiral Path Consulting and the co-founder of Tepeyac Mountain Sanctuary, a grassroots healing justice and movement-building organization. A social worker, healing practitioner, and longtime advocate, she has created spaces for rest, ritual, reflection, and healing for Black, immigrant, and other frontline organizers.”
Asheville Goombay Film Festival

Stumptown: Rooted in Legacy, a documentary film by my friend Elizabeth Lashay Garland of STM Multimedia (which I had the pleasure of being a part of), is one of the films to be screened! This is your chance to see it if you missed the screening we held in partnership with Buncombe County Special Collections.
Rad-ish Fest
Saturday, September 12 @ Grey Eagle

My beloved’s band the Krektones is playing at 1:45 pm, so I’ll be hoping on my bike to go from the YMI to creative local festival being put on by pals of mine.
RSAA Sneaker Gala

“Asheville Zine Fest is a celebration of zines, comics, small press, artist books, and independent publishing held each year in Asheville, NC. We have regional vendors as well as those traveling from a distance, educational activities, and social events on the schedule.”
